God’s Spy by Juan Gomez-Jurado Read by Kate Reading (listened 12/2009)

The storyline takes shape in Rome, with Paola Dicanti, a profiler educated in the U.S. at Quantico and an American Priest, Father Anthony Fowler. They have been directed to work with the police in Rome to solve the murders of a cardinal and more murders of the clergy follow. Dicanti is treated condescendingly by her fellow investigators and her position is further complicated because she’s had an affair with her direct superior. It is a complex story that reveals a lot about possible methods to cover up the truth about events so that believers continue to believe as religious leaders choose. Sobering. Kate Reading, one of my favorite narrators has done a beautiful job with this book. Rating: Full Throttle!
